PCI Joins Global Leaders at International AIDS Conference
Project Concern International is joining thousands of fellow leaders at the 17th Annual International AIDS Conference in Mexico City this week to share organizational knowledge and examples of PCI’s life-saving work in the effort to combat AIDS.
Through targeted social mobilization efforts, home-based, community-led care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS, support for children orphaned by AIDS, and economic empowerment opportunities for caregivers, Project Concern International provides a holistic, comprehensive approach to the fight against this life-threatening disease.
“We are working to ensure we help people affected by this pandemic become as strong, healthy and secure as they possibly can. Through work that reaches many people on multiple levels, we are striving to provide programming that is cost-effective, empowering, and that will last a lifetime,” said George Guimaraes, President & CEO of Project Concern International.
Created to promote and encourage action and dialogue concerning the global HIV/AIDS crisis, the conference provides a forum where organizations can share lessons learned and address gaps in knowledge. Confirmed speakers include Mexican President Felipe Calderon and other heads and former heads of government, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, UNAIDS Executive Director Peter Piot and WHO Director General Margaret Chan.
